As such, I realized that I needed to be prepared as much as possible, but, more importantly, I needed to prepare to be flexible. I found that when I was teachable and willing to hear criticism, I saw greater improvements in my teaching and increases in my confidence. These experiences left me determined to always try to interact more with each student; seeing him or her as a whole person, rather than simply a child who seems only to not care.
Many children did not have educational opportunities because of life they had to go through. I waited to give a formal assessment until the end of the unit.
By using varied materials and resources the students become easily engaged. I also used a variety of visual aids, including pictures to manipulate combined with pictures I drew for the students to copy down in their notebooks. Throughout the semester I was able to create a really great atmosphere in my classrooms.
I loved getting ideas for tried and true activities for my students, but I also enjoyed the tips and ideas that they could provide to help me grow as a teacher. I feel that this left the students with a large amount of information to study.
Additionally, it has taught me that I will recurrently be learning and growing as an educator. My teaching philosophy will most likely always include the Inquiry Model. While planning, I also had a large amount of documents, readings, maps, etc. I looked up for supports from every resource I could get from college, and surprisingly I made it through smoothly for the last three years.
My interest in teaching began while I was teaching as a non-licensed teacher for almost two years at a diverse post-secondary school in the refugee camp. My schedule was a great help; due Essay student teaching experience the block schedule I was able to have three consecutive off periods.
